It’s a beautiful day. A little cold for the end of March, but weird weather is usual around here. My little girl is out playing with the puppies and Bane (the cat), and my li’l dude is sitting on the couch playing Temple Run on the iPad better than I’ll ever hope to play. How different life is than when I was little...
My husband and I spent the last week moving my recording studio upstairs, and I love it! It's the place it was meant to be. I have a whole mess of songs that are just waiting to be recorded. Don't know where they'll fit just yet, but that'll come. The most important thing is to get these things out of my head and onto, well, digital. Again, I am reminded of how much things have changed from when I was in my early teens and using two tape recorders to experiment with ‘sound on sound’. No complaints here, though. I love having an entire ‘orchestra’ at my fingertips if I want. Not to mention a vocal back-up team that all sound strangely like me...
So, I will attempt to write bits and pieces about my latest musical project here. And other things, as they happen. I’m excited. Sometimes it’s hard to know how or where to begin, but I’ve found that, like with any project (especially housecleaning!), if I just start somewhere, the next step will come. I must, to quote one of my former composition professors, “just do the next thing.” So simple, and yet so easy to forget when I am in the thick of the Overwhelms.
And so, I begin the Begin.
